Comal County doles out major tax break to Caterpillar Inc. for 25 new jobs, factory expansion
A Caterpillar Inc. engine manufacturing plant in Schertz will receive tax breaks potentially worth millions of dollars if it meets goals for expansion and hiring under a new agreement with Comal County .
IN 2010: Caterpillar selects Schertz for new manufacturing plant Caterpillar’s facility at 6800 Doerr Lane opened in 2010. As part of the Irving-based manufacturer's Industrial Power Systems Division, the plant in Schertz makes and tests 0.5 liter to 18 liter engines used in Caterpillar equipment and other heavy machinery by a variety of manufacturers. The company will likely have its property taxes 100% rebated for 2026 — as long as it maintains the added employees.
