Texas lawmakers sent a congressional inquiry letter to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board stating that public colleges could violate civil rights and lose federal funding if they follow Abbott’s order to ignore updated Title IX rules. Abbott instructed the Texas Education Agency — which oversees public K-12 schools — and every state college and university “to ignore President Biden’s illegal dictate of Title IX.”
