Dallas council member Omar Narvaez, a Biden delegate, warned against an open convention. He alluded to the chaos and divisions that marked the 1968 Democratic convention, which preceded Hubert Humphrey’s loss to Republican Richard Nixon.“The last time there was a convention in Chicago and it became a brokered convention, it didn’t end well for the Democrats,” Narvaez said. “I’m hoping that history does not repeat itself. I don’t believe it will.
Mo Jenkins of Harris County learned about Biden’s decision the same way many other Texans found out: on social media. There was no email or official communication from Biden’s campaign or the Democratic National Committee, Jenkins said, calling it “a slap in the face.”“We have been receiving so much contact about how amazing the president was and how great his record was, why we needed to stick behind him,” Jenkins said.
