“I can’t wait to get started,” Garcia said. “Journalism is crucial to our democracy and good reporting seeks to expose the truths that those in power attempt to hide. Garcia joined the Tribune in 2022 after spending a decade reporting on the health care industry and how it affects South Texans. Garcia actively serves multiple journalism organizations locally and nationally. She is the current vice president of the, a regional coordinator for Texas and Oklahoma for the Society of Professional Journalists, and a current senior fellow for the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism.
