The Carmelite nuns at a monastery in Arlington, TX, have called for Bishop Olson to apologize to them for the dismissal of their mother prioress last year.
Carmelite nuns from an Arlington, Texas, monastery are calling for Bishop of Fort Worth Michael Olson to apologize publicly, and in person, for what they described as the unlawful dismissal of their mother prioress, Rev. Mother Teresa Agnes Gerlach, last year.On Wednesday, the Diocese of Fort Worth published private decrees from the Holy See dated April 30, including one which overturned Gerlach's dismissal from the Carmelite Order over her alleged inappropriate conduct with a priest.
' At the time of the investigation, they filed a lawsuit against the bishop, who in turn accused them of hindering the investigation. The lawsuit has since been dropped.The Vatican initially seemed to side with the bishop, appointing him as the pontifical commissary in the dispute; in April, the Vatican decided that the Arlington monastery would be put under the authority of the Association of Christ the King in the United States and not the bishop.
