TGI Fridays has 87 outlets around the UK and the owners are hoping to complete a rapid sale of all of them by the end of this month with restaurants at Braehead, Silverburn, the Fort and Buchanan Street included.
Glasgow's four TGI Fridays restaurants are up for sale after the group behind the chain suffered a near-total collapse in its share price following the failure of its US plans.
The aim of Hostmore, the UK owner, is for TGIs to become a fully franchise-operated model, with the sale process, which is predicted to be completed by the end of the month, expected to result in Hostmore being wound up and delisted from the London Stock Exchange. With the first opening in Birmingham, the popular format of casual American bistro-style dining, colourful cocktails and US-style service, saw it expand rapidly around the UK, and In 1993 the first Scottish TGI Fridays, in Glasgow's Buchanan Street, opened its doors.
