Thailand’s showbiz power couple, Lydia and Matthew Deane, have opened up their lives, alongside their circle of A-list friends, in the ongoing series HBO’s Deane’s Dynasty.
This eight-episode reality show, recently dropped on HBO and HBO GO, places the spotlight on singer-actress Lydia Sarunrat Deane, alongside her husband, Matthew Deane, a TV host and actor. Their journey through the highs and lows of fame and family life unfolds before viewers, offering an unfiltered look into both their challenges and milestones.
“Here, the cameras really are on you 24/7 for such a long period of time. The shooting took nearly a whole year. So being that open to the cameras, being open to showing our true lives was something that was a little scary at first,” admitted Matthew. Additionally, the opportunity to collaborate with HBO, a global platform, was a major driving force. She noted the transition from creating vlogs at home with a single camera and self-editing to now working with a full-fledged production team, including sound and lighting, and a crew of around 30 people documenting their daily lives. It’s a whole new level of production that they’re excited to be a part of.
Matthew also expressed that his approach to the show was all or nothing — he was committed to completely opening up his life to the cameras. “Super happy that we had our best friends there and we got to work with our family. They made it much more interesting and much more fun and it’s amazing what can happen in a year. All these life-changing moments and all these special events… it’s great that we had them all documented in this eight-episode series,” Matthew added.
Lydia, for her part, stressed that the show wasn’t about making them closer or not as a couple, considering their long history together. However, she expressed her concern about the show revealing aspects of their marriage that they’ve never shown before, including their disagreements. For example, the first verbal tussle they had on the series revolved around the topic of having more kids and vasectomy.
