Thames Ditton last saw major floods in 2014 and is expecting more due to climate change.

People living in a village in Surrey have been invited to a special event to learn about flooding. As climate change causes increased likelihood of heavy rainfall, residents will learn how to prepare for floods.

Mary Long-Dhonau, a campaigner on flooding who will be speaking at the event, said: "Having been flooded myself, I know just what an appalling experience it truly is."Experts will speak about how homeowners can make their homes more resilient to flooding and offer advice on insurance. The village also came to close to being flooded in 2020.

"While traditional approaches to flood resistance remain hugely important, such as a permanent or temporary community barriers, we all have a role to play in making ourselves and our homes and businesses more resilient to the current and growing threat from flooding," Ms Long-Dhonau added. The event is run by the Thames Ditton Residents Association Flood Group and is being held in St Nicholas Church Hall on Saturday.
