Voters can look to the primary election and be confident in how our elections are run.
Published: May. 04, 2024, 1:26 p.m.Pennsylvania’s primary election confirmed what we already know – that our elections are safe and secure, featuring tried-and-tested systems that are proven to protect the vote and ensure accuracy in the results.
This is in large part thanks to the tireless efforts of local election officials and poll workers who put in long hours on election day to ensure everything runs as planned. It takes tens of thousands of everyday Pennsylvanians – people from both parties – to make sure our elections run smoothly. Statewide, our commonwealth utilized about 45,000 poll workers to staff 9,000 voting locations on April 23. These dedicated friends, neighbors and co-workers undergo rigorous training to become experts on the rules and laws of the election process to protect your vote. They will do the same in November during the general election.Let’s not rest on these successes, though.
Allowing early in-person voting on a machine would relieve congestion at polling locations and give voters with challenging work schedules or family situations the chance to choose the time that works best for them. Same-day voter registration would improve access while enhancing security. Policies and practices like these help to ensure fairness in our elections and accuracy in the results. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
