Treasurer Jim Chalmers has locked horns with a reporter after he lashed the Coalition's pandemic spending following a bombshell COVID response inquiry.
Mr Chalmers locked horns with a reporter over Labor's pandemic spending plans. Picture: NewsWire / Martin Ollman Mr Chalmers was later pressed on his claims by a reporter who highlighted Labor’s proposed economic policies which included a $6b vaccine incentive payment, $5b on free rapid antigen tests, and a litany of additional JobKeeper payments that would have costed tens of billions more.
“No, that's not the case, Phil. The reason for that is because we were saying at the same time that they were spraying around tens of billions of dollars on companies that didn't need JobKeeper,” the Treasurer said. After Mr Chalmers attacked the Coalition’s fiscal management during the pandemic, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton lashed out over the Treasurer’s attack.
