The Azores, Central Europe and the Caribbean are among the less expected holiday destinations picking up interest among British travellers as heatwaves and wildfires overshadow the peak season in parts of southern Europe.

However, the Slovene Riviera has a milder outlook with sun and a peak of 30°C forecast this Saturday and Sunday.By September, of course, prices fall in Europe’s most popular tourist destinations as school-age children return to their classes. This year though, shoulder season breaks are proving particularly popular among Quint’s clientele.

Some travellers are swapping summer favourites for what are typically winter sun destinations, such as“We have found more [people] are open to travelling further afield – we have booked Mauritius more than ever this summer, which is good value compared to a European alternative and it’s nowhere near as hot.”
