Want to put aside some money in time for Christmas? With the 50-day savings challenge you'll have just under £330 in time for the big day

Is it just us or does Christmas seem to come round quicker every year? If you’re starting to budget for the festive season, you might be looking for some savings motivation. And some of the savings challenges out there are great ways to put money aside. The 100-day Christmas savings challenge is a popular way for many people to save for the big day. But if you’ve left it a bit late – it was 100 days to Christmas on 16 September – don’t worry, try a 50-day challenge instead.

There are 50 days until Christmas on 5 November . Making it the perfect time to put a bit more aside for any last-minute Christmas gifts and treats. Photo credit : Shutterstock How does the 50-day savings challenge work? The 50-day challenge is very simple. All you do is put aside a certain amount each day. Starting at 25p and building up by 25p more each day – so 50p, 75p, £1 and so on. The largest daily amount you’ll put aside is £12.50 on Christmas Eve.

Or, if you prefer, you can start with the bigger amounts now and put aside less the closer to Christmas you get.If the sums seem a bit of a squeeze, try starting with 10p a day and increasing to 20p, 30p etc, you’ll have £127.50 on 24 December. You can put the money in a physical pot or jar and watch it mount up or transfer it to a bank account if you want to do it digitally.
