It has a fascinating story

With the cold weather hopefully easing off for a while, now is the perfect opportunity to head out and enjoy the natural beauty of Scotland.

This fascinating place, situated in the East Neuk of Fife near the village of Dunino, is in fact an ancient pagan ritual site. Found within a strip of woodland, it can be accessed via a path leading down from the nearby Dunino Church.View gallery The worship spot includes a crag that is referred to as the Altar Stone, where some believe that ancient druids would carry out human sacrifices—though there is no archaeological evidence of this.

Walking down the carved stone steps, you are led into a natural 'den' below. Here, you will find a number of faces, Celtic crosses, and spiritual-looking symbols etched into the cliff face by ancient worshippers. Druids and pagans continue to view the site as sacred, seeing it as a gateway to the otherworld. Many of the objects have been left as tokens of remembrance for deceased friends and family members.
