The Balcarres Arms, located in Aspull, Wigan, offers a cozy atmosphere and is situated on the edge of the award-winning Haigh Woodland Park. The pub welcomes dogs and is popular among visitors exploring the 350-acre park. The new owners, Becca and Jake Howarth, have recently taken over the pub and are in the process of decorating for the festive season.
And if you've got an award-winning woodland park on your doorstep, it's certainly not going to do you any harm.
They're in the thick of it taking over in the busy Christmas period, but they've already had a warm welcome from the customers who come from far and wide. They have a pie and a drink offer for £9.95 on Mondays too, along with other deals which vary from time to time. It felt a little strange to be in a pub with hardly any customers and it was evident the new staff were still finding their feet. Orders were being made to replenish stock while we were there.
