One of the most highly anticipated DC movies coming up is The Batman - Part II, as writer/director Matt Reeves continues to expand his Elseworlds universe.
When asked by @brucewayncs when he "suspect the script to be finished,"Gunn simply said, "When Matt thinks it's ready!" At the time of this story's publication, Reeves hasn't made any comments about The Batman - Part II's script progression. Why The Batman 2 Script Is Taking So Long Close While it is understandable to see so many DC fans wanting The Batman - Part II to happen, its delay is related to a lot of reasons. Initially, The Batman - Part II was set to start principal photography in November 2023, when the sequel was still scheduled to be released in October 2025. However, in light of the WGA strike in 2023, The Batman - Part II had to be delayed to 2026, as most of last year saw Hollywood go through a shutdown.
It's also worth taking into account that Reeves having the extra time to complete his vision for The Batman - Part II is only a good thing in the long run. With the expectations being high for The Batman - Part II, it's better not to rush it, increasing the chances for the sequel to be even better than the first one. Hopefully, there will be more updates on The Batman - Part II sometime in the fall, as casting will likely be taking place for the sequel.
