There is so much to do in Nottinghamshire , from exploring castles and nature reserves to historic houses and other attractions. And with the summer holidays just around the corner and warmer weather returning, it's the perfect time of year to make the most of being outside in the sunshine.
Some of these include local country parks whereas others are longer and more complex routes. However, there are so many different options in the county and surrounding areas like the Vale of Belvoir and the Peak District that are also great for cycling if you want to travel further afield and make a day of it.
Sherwood Pines There are all sorts of cycling and mountain biking trails at Sherwood Pines. So whether you want a leisurely hour in nature or a day of exploring, there is a route for you. Some of these routes include the Maid Marion family cycle route, the Skills loop, the Robin Hood Adventure Trail, the Outlaw trail and even an advanced dirt jump and downhill area.
Rufford Abbey If you are up for a bit of a challenge then this 23-mile route may be for you. The trail starts at Mansfield and goes to Rufford Abbey before looping back to the town, passing Clipstone on the way. Anyone willing to try this route should be relatively fit and some parts may leave you wanting to hop off your bike and push it for a little bit. It is definitely not a cycle trail for the faint-hearted, but is sure to have stunning views of nature and the Abbey itself.
