Mothering Sunday is a two-fold reason to celebrate. Of course, it is a day, falls on Sunday, March 19 in 2023, to celebrate the motherly figures in our lives but also lends itself as the perfect time to indulge in British institution - The Sunday Roast.
Set in a truly gorgeous area, this rural pub is inviting and cosy and especially popular with families. The Green Man, which was established back in 1809, tends to be busy on Sundays, so it is advised to book your table in advance. There's a choice of different cuts, served with Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and homemade gravy while diners can also order the duo or trio of meats, selected by the chef. Starters include soup, ham hock terrine and classic prawn cocktail while you can compliment your roast with extra sides, such as creamed potatoes and pork, sage and onion stuffing.
The in-house eatery's Restaurant 56's Sunday lunch is certainly not messing around and is prepared by Michelin's Trained chefs. The restaurant is an elegant setting.The Higher Buck, Waddington Recently named as one of the country's top 60 gastropubs , the Higher Buck is a solid shout for a trip out.
The Teapot Cafe, Blackpool A no-fuss, traditional seaside British cafe on Lytham Road, offering your favourite hearty dishes, including Sunday roasts and it is a real crowd pleaser. A family meal won't break the bank and it is likely to fill your bellies with great, lovingly-cooked food. When LancsLive visited this pub a few months ago, were described it as "a brilliant pub in a glorious location staffed by keen, capable, friendly, smiley serving staff". And, insistently the dining room was packed full of families.
