Homelander's bloodiest season yet?
Homelander has always been a special kind of evil. That smile-in-your-face, drunk-on-power narcissist who would split your spine in half with a glowy red glance out of mere boredom.
From the outset it doesn't seem that way. When the season kicks off we find Homelander at his lowest. Stormfront being outed as a racist shortly before being maimed has damaged his brand. The situation is exacerbated when Annie, aka Starlight , is called to act as co-captain of The Seven to help boost his numbers.may find this twist of fate utterly delicious, the tide is about to turn in a critical and unexpected way.
The speech, true to Homelander's nature, is petulant, whiny and bloated by arrogance and self entitlement. He was praised for being confident, unapologetic and for not being afraid to be himself, which is pretty much tantamount to handing him a grenade. His recent experience has taught him that he can be authentic to his callous, arrogant nature and still be loved. Take that away from him, he'll have nothing to lose. In which case being feared can award him a different yet still satisfying kind of power.
