Retired veterinary surgeon Val, 94, left host Bradley Walsh in hysterics at his witty responses

The Chase fans were left in stitches by the quiz show's oldest ever contestant. Retired veterinary surgeon Val, 94, was one of four would-be brainboxes hoping to win some money on the popular ITV programme on Wednesday night.

Val later admitted he also "felt like it", due to all the walking. And asked what he would do with any money he won, he awkwardly confessed that he would bank his winnings, as, with him turning 95 next month, he would "likely die" soon and the kids would get it. The Vixen, Jenny Ryan, offered him a high offer for "every year" of his life, at a whopping £94,000. But he stuck with his original £5,000 and secured his place in the final chase. Meanwhile, high-flying contestant Meng also bagged £5,000 for the team and booked her place in the final round.

Meng, who works in an energy research company, really got viewers talking with her exploits in the final chase. Fans claimed the Australian native "carried" the team, after providing all of the correct answers. Abeel buzzed in to 'pass' on one question and Val incorrectly answered another.
