Shaun Wallace, one of the original stars of The Chase, reportedly lost a significant sum when the show was in its infancy.
"We earned just £100 a show and had to take time away from our better-paid jobs to do it. Shaun lost thousands." But it didn't take long for the show to prove its worth; within two days, insurers were convinced that ITV wouldn't suffer financially. It was the inherent excitement and nail-biting finishes of the early episodes that ultimately sealed the deal.
