The family-run pub has won the award for the second year in a row
An award-winning pub in Cheshire has retained its title of 'Pub of the Year' for the second year running. The Lodge Inn, a quaint pub in the town of Alsager, has won the CAMRA award thanks to its owners Sarah and Carl Smith.
Carl told CheshireLive: "We've won the CAMRA 'Pub Of The Year' in Alsager for two years now, and it's been a nice surprise both times because we haven't been here for three years yet. We've been in the business for nearly 24 years though - we really enjoy it." Customer Phil Hickman has been drinking in the Crewe Road watering hole for more than 20 years. He said: "Sarah and Carl have done a brilliant job and they've not put a foot wrong since they've been here."
"They deserve it, they pulled a great pint when they owned the Gresley Arms as well. The bar staff are all dedicated to their job too, even the young bar staff. It's a really nice pub."
