Any MP who choses to name the alleged spy in Parliament would be immune from legal action
The man, known only as H6, was reportedly once Prince Andrew’s “close confidante”, but the King’s brother has now stated that, on security advice, he has ceased all contact with him.The order was issued under Article Six of the Human Rights Act, which ensures that everyone is entitled to a “fair and public hearing” without outside influence.
“If it’s not resolved in the courts, he should be named in the Commons. It’s clearly in the national interest.”“Prince Andrew needs to be clear and honest. He has made a mistake, he was in a vulnerable period at the time,” he said on Saturday. However, if such statements are made during the process of parliamentary proceedings, such as during a debate in the Commons or a committee session, they are immune from prosecution.
The peer later said: “What concerned me about this case was wealth, and power that comes with it, and abuse, and that was what led me to act in the way that I did.”It is not clear when Prince Andrew’s relationship with the alleged Chinese spy began, but it is speculated that it developed after the Duke was made a UK trade envoy to China in 2001.
