The centre teaches all people about the Brazilian culture with open arms
Breaking Brazilian stereotypes, helping those who come to the UK feel at home, hosting festivals and teaching others about Brazil’s history are just some of the things the Brazilian Cultural Centre does. Working around the clock and based at Sneinton Market, the centre is the only one in the East Midlands.
As well as big festivals such as Junina celebrated towards the end of June, other people are in awe of the colours, and costumes and enjoy barbecues and Brazilian Feijoada when attending the Brazilian Cultural Centre’s Events. “Being from the northeast of Brazil, I’m blessed with the dance aspect of the country, where I’m from is the birthplace of all styles of dance which is amazing. I’m forever learning because dance is always evolving but the roots are still there.”
“We help with their finances and well-being too, there’s so much. Other organisations and charities can refer people to us and we point them in the right direction, helping them in any way we can.” Being the only Brazilian Centre in the East Midlands, there have been times when the centre has been recognised.
