The cost of treating allergies is up 230% yet only 5-6% more Americans are suffering from allergies during the same time frame.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -People seeking relief from sniffling and sneezing this allergy season are paying a lot more than they used to. The cost of treating allergies has ballooned, with patients paying 230% more for medications over a twenty year period.

Dr. Samuel Friedlander with University Hospitals believes higher prices stem from pharmaceutical companies focusing on some very rare and specific allergic diseases.
