When the six-year deal expires in financial 2027, under updated rules no state will have a GST relativity lower than the fiscally stronger of NSW or Victoria, which typically receive 80¢ to 90¢ in the dollar.

Speaking in Perth, Dr Chalmers said he would consult state counterparts before the current deal expired.Dr Chalmers assured West Australians they would not miss out.“I have said to Premier McGowan and Treasurer McGowan, I said publicly and privately here in WA, we don’t intend to change that deal,” Dr Chalmers said.
