“And I wonder if they’re not trying to say anything because they don’t have to. I feel like these might be people who have such unwavering self-belief, they don’t have to prove themselves, or show their worth in the way many people have to before they’re given the benefit of the doubt. I think it’s a class thing. If you’re at the top of that pyramid you don’t have to work as hard to prove people wrong.
. They’re above the socially accepted conventions of dress and formality. They’re different from the rest of us. Their minds are on higher things. “There is an element in the tech world of subverting images,” says Terrelonge. “And I think that has come because these types of tech bosses are a relatively new thing. They’re able to shape what that looks like.”
