A Labour MP who fought for compensation for victims of the infected blood scandal has told LBC one of the issues was the 'department of health was institutionally defending itself'. Speaking to LBC's Iain Dale, Dame Diana Johnson said: “One of the problems with the contaminated blood scandal was the department of health was institutionally defending itself, it was defensive throughout and even when you had ministers asking questions, the civil servants tried to close that down.
