Reporter Amy Walker charts how the business destroyed holidays for hundreds, and how its boss ended up in prison
The reassuring words that greeted passengers booking a place to leave their car online before they jetted off on holiday from Manchester Airport.
The Manchester Evening News has been reporting on the issues with the meet and greet firm run by Mohammed Isaq since the beginning. Here, reporter Amy Walker charts how the family run business spiralled out of control, ending with the family in court and the boss behind bars. It was suggested that he give his spare keys to the taxi driver so his car could be brought to his home - but he refused.
Reports of 130 keys stolen On August 18 2017 there was a report of a burglary at the site. It was reported that approximately 130 keys and a number of vehicles had been stolen. One woman had booked parking for her car with Manchester Meet and Greet Ltd for 17th to 22nd August 2017, paying by card. Having dropped her car off at the terminal as arranged, she returned on August 22 and called the company in order for them to deliver her car back to her.
He told them that the car had not been stolen, but it was nowhere to be found. She was then told that her car might be at his other site in Crewe. The parking of vehicles at Davenport Green Hall at that time was prohibited by planning Enforcement, Manchester Crown Court heard. Escalating complaints Further complaints were received, including one man whose car was left in thick mud and had to be towed out. He also found damage to his windscreen, number plate and bodywork.One man returned to find his car in thick mud with deep scratches and warning lights showing for the ABS and steering. The key had also been replaced and wires in the glove compartment had been tampered with, and he had a quarter of a tank of fuel less than expected.
False promises to 'call it quits' The BMW was a company car which he had to pay to have repaired. He later accepted an offer of £200 to ‘call it quits’ if he didn’t take matters further, but he never received the cash.A woman, who owns a Jaguar, had an app which allowed her to see her car’s location and what journeys it had made.Despite the incorporation of Manchester Airport Parking Services Limited, it continued operating in the same way.
