It's far from a rosey picture at Easter Road but Joe Tortolano reckons they should have prospective bosses hammering the door down.
Joe Tortolano claims Hibs’ luxuries should have gaffers queuing around Easter Road. But he believes the first task for Lee Johnson’s successor when he steps in the door is to turn beauty into a beast.
Tortolano explained: “Managers should be beating the door down. No question. The board’s been very, very generous money wise. Buying a striker for £700,000. I can barely remember Hibs paying that. I don’t know how many players Johnson signed. Think about the wage bill that’s available and then there’s the other advantages.
“That feeling right in the head. Teams look forward to going to Easter Road. Beautiful big pitch, lovely stadium. You don’t want that. “Think about the wage bill and the money. Fans get excited about the prospect of someone big arriving, yet half of them might say: ‘He’s not going to come’. But guys may go to Easter Road, see the training, the fan base, see the team isn’t playing well and can I turn it around? If I do, the supporters will see me as a saviour.”
“There’s Kettlewell at Motherwell and Mackay at Ross County. Robinson at St Mirren is another. These guys aren’t big names, aren’t ex-Hibs, but look at what they are doing. McInnes at Kilmarnock, too.
