We have some new faces and some familiar figures representing Merseyside in the House of Commons
The election results are in and we now know exactly who is set to be representing Merseyside in Parliament for the next five years.
Dan Carden comfortably held on to the Liverpool Walton seat in this election, in a result that was never really in doubt. She comfortably held on last night after seeing off the challenge of the Green Party in second place. Before becoming an MP, Ms Johnson was a shop steward for the union, Unison. She succeeded long-serving former Labour MP Dame Louise Ellman, who left the party over its handling of anti-semitism but rejoined as a member in 2021.
She was appointed a member of the Privy Council in 2023 and will begin her seventh term in Parliament having been comfortably re-elected in Thursday's national ballot.A former Labour leadership hopeful, Angela Eagle was elected to Parliament five before her twin sister in 1992. She was comfortably retained as the MP for Wallasey on Thursday night for an eighth term.
Mr Patrick, who grew up in Birkenhead, was first elected as a councillor in Upton in 2013 before stepping down from the role in September 2018.Patrick Hurley became Labour's first ever Member of Parliament for Southport. Mr Hurley defeated Conservative Damien Moore, who has held the seaside seat since 2017.
A former Sefton councillor, Mr Dowd came into Parliament as Labour's representative in 2015. Barely two years into his first stint in Westminster, Jeremy Corbyn made him Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
