Fans are reacting to the new cruise director on Channel 5's The Good Ship Murder after Claire Sweeney's departure. Ross Adams has taken over the role, and viewers are sharing their opinions on his performance.
Fans of The Good Ship Murder have been voicing their opinions on the new addition to the cast following Claire Sweeney 's exit. The Channel 5 drama, which returned for its second series on Friday (January 10), continues to follow the adventures of ex-detective turned cruise ship crooner Jack Grayling (played by Shayne Ward) and first officer Kate Woods (Catherine Tyldesley) as they unravel murder mysteries at sea.
This season, the pair are embroiled in a case involving an opera house murder, with a twist involving Jack's daughter eloping with one of the suspects. Claire Sweeney, who was seen as Beverley, the ship's cruise director in the first series, did not return due to prior commitments with Coronation Street, where she is known for her role as Cassie Plummer, reports Express. Stepping into the role of cruise director is Ross Adams from Hollyoaks, taking on the character Colin Smallwood. His performance has been well-received, with a viewer saying: 'Loving Colin on The Good Ship Murder.' Another fan expressed their views, noting: 'Sad Claire's not back but I'm liking the new director.' The sentiment was shared by others, with comments such as: 'I bl**dy love Colin.' And another fan praised Adams: 'You never disappoint Mr Rosco!' Discussing Claire Sweeney's exit from the cast, her colleagues Shayne Ward and Catherine Tyldesley shared their understanding of her choice while holding out hope for her return. Shayne, known for his role as singer Jack Grayling, commented: 'To lose Claire was sad for us all. But hopefully not for good. We know that she's deep in the scripts for Coronation Street, and me and Cath have been there. 'We know when you're involved in such big storylines, you're going to be committed to that. So there's always room . And she's such a character as well for the show, that she is missed.' The Good Ship Murders returns next Friday at 9pm on Channel 5
