The Gospel Music Festival arrived as a stunning addition to the city's illustrious live music lineup
Now another gem in Liverpool's crown of live musical festivities, the team behind this weekend put on a thoroughly top-notch show. Kicking off at 1pm, the Stanley Park grounds were quickly filled with music lovers of all ages lining up with what felt like several hundred fans there within the hour.
Capacity was kept humble but large enough for young kids to run around and enjoy themselves and for everyone in attendance to peacefully set up a picnic if they pleased. It felt just the right amount of space for the inaugural event that didn't overestimate its audience but kept the integrity of a live music event in place.Almost instantly, you were met with stunning vocals from the likes of the Wavertree Gospel Choir, Hayli Kincade, NaffyMar and more.
Although it was kept simple, there was nothing else a guest could've asked for. Boarding the festival grounds was a range of delicious food trucks serving everything from Guyanese to pizza, nestled closely beside a handful of children's fun fair rides and activities. When you weren't kicked back on the grass basking in the sun and listening to the choir, you were drawn to the stunning aromas not far away.
There was a unique charm to the festival where it felt like the organisers were still finding their feet but thrilled the event was a reality in the first place. With a humble start and everything rallying around to support the Gospel Music Festival, it's no wonder the sense of community and joy was prevalent from the moment you stepped through the gates.
It's early days considering the weekend is yet to pass but I guarantee the Gospel Music Festival will return in 2024 twice its current size. And when it does, you have to go.Don't miss the biggest and breaking stories by signing up to the Echo Daily newsletter here
