Stockport is being hailed as the ‘Hollywood of the North’ as it grows its reputation as a popular filming location for some of the world’s leading TV shows and films.
Figures from Filming in England have revealed that since January 2018, 197 shoot days have taken place across Stockport, with an estimated production spend of more than £3.5 million.Stockport, which this year celebrates being Greater Manchester’s town of culture, was most recently used as a primary location for sitcom The Power of Parker.
Jonny Shelton, production liaison manager for the North and North West at Creative England, said: “It has been a pleasure to work so closely with Stockport’s local authority to support the local film and tv sector in recent years. “As a result, the area has a strong reputation in the industry and is one of the busiest locations in the North West, which is aided further by Stockport’s wide range of locations and period architecture – plus its ideal proximity into the production hubs of Manchester and Liverpool.
