M People frontwoman Heather Small performed a surprise live set of ’90s anthems at Nathan Cole and Andy Moller’s wedding, staged in a grand 19th-century members’ club on Pall Mall in London.
Neither Nathan Cole nor Andy Moller is from London, but the city has been central to their love story from the start. Their paths first crossed during London Fashion Week in 2013, where Derbyshire-born Nathan was working for the BFC, and Andy, who grew up in Australia, was producing fashion shows. They had their first date at the Royal Oak pub on Columbia Road, home to the city’s famous flower market.
After the candlelit wedding feast of seared scallops and slow-cooked Hereford beef – served in the opulent dining room as the sun went down – the grooms swapped their formal tails for a pair of bespoke pale gold tuxedos by the Savile Row tailor Richard James, a close friend, as the party truly got underway. Both chose custom shirts by Emma Willis of Jermyn Street , andloafers. Antique citrine brooches and silk Prada pocket squares served as the finishing touches.
Besides their carefully chosen wedding looks, the couple planned every aspect of the celebrations themselves, enlisting the team at– the event design and production studio where Andy is creative director – to help them bring their vision to life. “We brought together an ambitious but ultimately magical moment seamlessly,” Nathan says now. “We shared responsibilities, each taking the lead on different creative elements, from floral design to food and cocktail curation to entertainment.
That last element proved particularly memorable. After guests – fuelled by espresso martinis, negronis and Tommy’s margaritas – were lured onto the dance floor by resident Dalston Superstore DJ Chris Cuff, a Halpern-clad Heather Small, lead singer of M People, performed a surprise live set of ’90s anthems including “One Night in Heaven” and “Search for the Hero” for the thrilled crowd, culminating in a particularly euphoric moment care of a confetti drop.
“All we wanted to do was bring together all of our favourite people and really celebrate,” says Nathan now. “We think we achieved that, so we are very happy. These are memories that we will cherish forever.”
