It's a spectacular setting for a traditional afternoon tea
Tatton Park has been welcoming visitors for decades, thanks to its magnificent parkland with its roaming deers, old mansion house and stunning manicured gardens to stroll. Owned by the National Trust for the past 65 years, it is one of Cheshire 's most popular visitor attractions.
You have to email a request for a booking on the Tatton Park website, or leave a voicemail, and then wait until you get a message back if they have availability. Luckily, I eventually got the call, and was able to book in for a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon tea with my mum and sister here. On sunny days you can opt to sit outside in either the terraced courtyard at the front of the cottage, or at the back you can sample the breathtaking setting at the edge of the Tatton orchard, looking out across the estate's Victorian Walled Kitchen Gardens. Or inside you can admire the centuries of history of this place, which was once the Old Dairy on the site, dating back to the 18th century.
So we nestled next to a fireplace on the ground floor instead which was set with mismatched vintage crockery, as is the fashion these days. The sandwiches were all heftily packed with filling, and you certainly won't leave this afternoon tea feeling hungry.
