The Champions League is European football’s premier competition
is often seen as the premier club competition as the biggest clubs around the continent battle to become the champions of Europe.The eight stars on the logo represent the eight top teams for the first-ever Champions League back in 1992.
Rangers, Marseille, AC Milan, IFK Goteborg, Club Brugge, Porto, CSKA Moscow and PSV Eindhoven battled it out during the first-ever edition of the competition.The eight teams were split into two groups of four and after playing each other home and away, the winners of the group would advance to the final.
French side Marseille won three and drew three as they finished with nine points, whilst Rangers were second with eight points after winning two and drawing four matches.In the other group, Milan came out on top after winning all six matches, with Swedish side IFK Goteborg in second place with a record of three wins and three defeats.
