Planning officers at Ribble Valley Borough Council are going ahead with enforcement action
Three years since the owners of the Grade II-listed Punch Bowl at Hurst Green were ordered to rebuild the pub not a single brick has been laid.
The Donelans, who had repeatedly been knocked back in their attempts to secure planning permission to turn the site into a holiday park, were told that they had 12 months to rebuild the pub. As the property developers have failed to comply with the order, Ribble Valley Borough Council is now going ahead with securing "injunctive relief" via the High Court, in a move which has been backed by councillors and locals alike.
Councillor Kevin Horkin MBE said that he is "unequivocal" in his stance. "I know that it will be reinstated," he told LancsLive. "That building must be reconstructed to the way that it was. This is a massive issue and the officers responsible have done as much as they can to attempt to reconcile the situation."
Minutes from a Ribble Valley planning meeting held in May confirmed that enforcement action was being taken. The record states: "Committee will recall that the council issued an Enforcement Notice requiring the owner to restore the building to its former state within 1year of the notice taking effect. This period elapsed in March 2024.
