Simon Bird is best known for playing the painfully awkward Will McKenzie from E4’s cringy coming-of-age comedy, but the actor is not interested in reprising the role any time soon.
Despite gifting the zeitgeist with some wonderful phrases – ‘Feisty one you are,’ ‘Bus w******,’ – and a plethora of memorable moments, Will admits a reunion now would be ‘depressing’.‘I don’t think it would work with the characters grown up, which we now all are. His co-stars Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley are now aged 35, 34 and 31 respectively and we’d certainly hope Simon, Neil and Jay have their act together by now.Bird is currently making his first foray into the directing side of the industry, with film Days Of The Bagnold Summer, but has felt ‘typecast’ when it comes to the acting side of things.
