Anyone struggling to come up with a place in Scotland to head for a day trip or a staycation should consider the gorgeous and peaceful Highlands village of Plockton.
As we barrel towards the middle of July, it is starting to feel like summer is getting away from us a little bit.
Sitting on the edge of a sheltered bay, with stunning views out over the idyllic Loch Carron, it is not hard to see why the village was named the most charming in Scotland. Also referred to as the "Jewel of the Highlands", Plockton is easily one of the most picturesque destinations in the UK. For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there is also plenty to see and do around the Plockton itself. The best way to see everything that the village has to offer is to just take a leisurely walk up and down its main Harbour Street, which is home to everything from bed and breakfasts and craft shops to even a distillery.
