Cleary needs to own the first 20 if NSW are to win
It’s different to last year when Jimmy Maloney played halfback and Nathan was five-eighth.
But plans are just that: plans. As the great boxing saying goes: everyone has a gameplan until they get punched in the face. That’s when you learn if you have what it takes to stand up.The Maroons' big threat is coming down our right side with Kalyn Ponga and Cameron Munster. I also see Ben Hunt’s short kicking game as a threat. It was something that hurt us last year. That’s the job of the left-side of Latrell and winger Josh Addo-Carr. Hunt likes going down that short-side and kicking behind the line. When Phil Gould coached Origin, he often said that he picked his bench first.
But the biggest job on the field belongs to winger Nick Cotric. Last year, "Turbo" Tom Trbojevic made about 20 hit-ups. He was among our best go-forward men and was my player of the series. We need Cotric to do the same job.Player to watchThe finest Origin debut I've ever seen was Cameron Munster's in the decider in 2017 when Johnathan Thurston was ruled out because of injury.
