Westworld alum Jeffrey Wright is officially returning to HBO for the highly-anticipated The Last of Us Season 2.
, Wright has signed on to portray his video game character Isaac Dixon in the next installment of the live-action horror series, after originally voicing the said character in Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II game. This marks the acclaimed actor’s latest collaboration with HBO, after previously starring in shows like Angels in America, Boardwalk Empire, and Westworld. For his role in the 2003 miniseries, he won an Emmy and a Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actor.
Wright’s Isaac is being described as “a quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.”The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Season 2 will be based on Naughty Dog’s acclaimed video game sequel The Last of Us Part II, which features a significant time jump introducing a now grown-up Ellie.
The series is written and created by Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann. They are also executive producing alongside Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan.
