It's not open as much as is used to be but The Meadows Library is still an important place for the community
Nottingham's libraries have not had the easiest time of late, with council cuts creating uncertainty, reduced hours and, in some cases, the possibility of the voluntary sector stepping in.
"It is thriving; it has 6-7 computers where people can use them that haven’t necessarily got access to them. It was refurbished around 2009-2010, so it's quite modern. We have so much going on, with a lot of diverse things happening in what is a very diverse community.” Speaking about her group, she said: “The sewing group is mostly older people and single people, who would be isolated if they didn't come in. It’s something that they look forward to, to come in once a week, talk of their troubles, their health issues, anything they want to share.”
