Away from the pub Andy was dad to five-year-old Jasmine and three-year-old Georgina. His wife Helen Kitchen, 41, told the Manchester Evening News: "From the moment Jasmine was born I saw a different side to Andy. The club sparked unprecedented levels of anger when they announced season ticket rises for next season, with all four supporter groups uniting to ask for a freeze instead. Ticket prices have gone up at the Etihad in eight of the last 10 seasons and the club cited inflation as the rationale behind the latest rise, but the fact it came amid a backdrop of record revenues and profits for the club upset many.
The consultant surgeon, whose foundation provides emergency surgery training for war and disaster zones, spent a month in the war-zone earlier this year. And he described the unimaginable circumstances facing the injured and unwell in Gaza. The school picking up the pieces Fifteen years of austerity has stripped away the safety nets and support many poor and disadvantaged families relied upon. And it’s increasingly schools who are left picking up the pieces.
"We've got team staff we can deploy to really support families and now we have something whereby our families can come in the evening and cook a meal, they can support their child with homework, they came come and use our white goods in the evening to wash their clothes, we've got beds that we can source for them...and that’s one of the things we do to mitigate the social disadvantage.
