Bhekisani Matabiswana has been jailed for life
Footage has been released of the moment a murderer lies to paramedics by claiming he found the body of his victim in the road. Bhekisani Matabiswana has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 37-year-old Luke Harden.
Matabiswana, 27, viciously attacked model and DJ, Harden, by stamping and kicking him in the face. The two men encountered each other as they separately made their way home from a Halloween event at the working men's club in Stacksteads, near Bacup on October 31 2025. Matabiswana said that Luke had struggled to breathe after falling and that and that he had put him into the recovery position.
When police arrived he told officers that he used Luke’s phone to call for an ambulance and that he had also telephoned A&E.Luke suffered swelling to the brain and back of the head; extensive facial bruising with cuts to the left lower eyelid and to the lips; patterned bruising to the left cheek; fractures to his nose, jaw and larynx; and bruising to the neck, arms and shoulder. It was later established that he died as a result of blunt force trauma to head and neck following an assault.
Detectives later discovered that Matabiswana had in fact brutally attacked Luke after the pair had an altercation. Luke, from Bacup, had no defensive wounds or injuries to suggest he had punched Matabiswana. Matabiswana was jailed for 15 years and 353 days at Preston Crown Court today after Luke's mum branded him a "savage monster" for killing her son in the early hours of November 1 last year.
Police have now released a series of clips in which Matabiswana told paramedics "he was on the floor" when they asked what had happened. He claimed Luke had already been in cardiac arrest when he came across him. Matabiswana also failed to ring for help despite being asked to do so by a passer-by who ran over to help.
Luke's aunt, cousin and best friend also raced to the scene and tried to give CPR but Luke was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. In the video, Rossendale Police called Matabiswana "a murderer, a liar and a coward". They added: "He didn’t attempt CPR, he didn’t phone for an ambulance, and when the emergency services did arrive, he lied about the circumstances which led to Luke being fatally injured.
