For the most recent edition of the Daily Record's weekly series highlighting the top walks and beauty spots across Scotland, we have picked the incredible Sandwood Bay.
Each week, we select one walk or beauty spot around Scotland and shine a light on it. Now that we have entered the peak of summer, it only feels right to pick a beach.
Given its remote location, and since there is no road access, reaching Sandwood Bay can be a little tricky. The easiest way is to park at the gravel car park at the hamlet of Blairmore, and walk from there along the signposted four-mile path. However, while not within walking distance, the nearby Old School Restaurant and Rooms is the perfect stopping point on your way home from Sandwood Bay. As the name suggests, this bed and breakfast was once a primary school between the years of 1879 and 1970.
One recent guest shared: "Went with my mum for an evening meal, she had fish and chips I had venison stew followed by sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. The meal was absolutely brilliant, the service was perfect.
