We all know there can only be one Glasgow, but places named after Scotland's largest city can be found all over the world from Canada to New Zealand - and even in South America.
New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada
Perhaps the most famous 'Glasgow' outside of Scotland is the one in Nova Scotia, Canada. While the town only has a population of around 9,000, New Glasgow, which was first settled by Scottish immigrants in the late 18th century, shares many similarities with its Scots namesake. Named New Glasgow in 1809, the city is split in half by the East River and was known for its thriving shipbuilding industry for a time.
