Under Suspicion: Kate McCann airs on Channel 5 on Wednesday night
Channel 5 will air the TV film Under Suspicion: Kate McCann on Wednesday night. The drama looks at the story of missing Madeleine McCann three months into the search for the toddler, who vanished from an apartment bedroom in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
As part of the search for missing Madeleine, the Portuguese Police had no substantial leads, no real evidence, and no arrests had been made.follows Kate, played by Killing Eve actress Laura Bayston, as she’s called for a meeting with the police. In spite of their past exchanges being friendly, things take an accusatory tone from the start.
Scenes aired in the film will see police tell Kate that they don’t believe her as they face mounting pressure to deliver answers on what happened to Madeleine. The series synopsis adds: “Detectives told her they had evidence that would prove her involvement in the disappearance, and if she didn’t confess, she would face murder charges. The drama focuses on a 48-hour period that threatened to halt the search for Madeleine, and which left the McCanns fighting for their freedom.
