A growing trend across places like US, the draft system sees coffee replacing the pints, and sees a selection of iced coffee to go or sit in. The family-run business, run by Hannah Porter-Smith, her husband Ben and her father Kevin Baird, is excited to be bringing this novel new way to enjoy coffee to the city.
The new space follows up their first permanent venue on Victoria Road in Govanhill, and their original horse box, which they confirmed on TikTok is no longer at the Barras and is due to be on the move. Taking to Instagram after a very hectic opening day on Friday , the trio posted: "Opening day at Taps by Eight Coffee Co was bigger and busier than we ever expected.
Seeing people queue down the street for something we’ve worked so hard on was honestly so special.
"A huge thank you to everyone who came down today, waited patiently, grabbed a coffee, shared kind words and showed us so much support. It already feels like more than just a coffee shop, and that’s completely because of the people in it. Without our customers, this is nothing.
"Serving up three styles of iced drinks on tap - a cold brew, a latte or an oat latte, they also do a selection of hot coffees, matchas and chai served in the more traditional manner. Now open just along from the Botanic Gardens, Taps by Eight is open daily from 8am until 6pm, as you'd expect there is also a selection of top bakes on offer too.
