There were a total of 5,396 emergency admissions at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust in October, according to the latest data from the NHS.
Elsewhere in our region, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust had 6% of emergency admissions waiting for over 12 hours, while at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust i was 19% and in University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust it was 16%. It’s the second highest number on record after last December, and is higher than the 43,793 people at the same point last year. Just over half of arrivals at major ‘type 1’ A&Es at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust were seen within four hours of arrival.
Nationally, only 55.9% of people attending major ‘type 1’ A&Es were seen within four hours of arrival in October. That’s down from 57.6% in September, and is the lowest percentage since December 2022 when 49.6% of arrivals were seen within the target time.
