Suspects with the name Karen arrested by West Yorkshire Police
The name Karen has been singled out in a Freedom of Information request made for suspects causing problems on the streets of West Yorkshire.
According to West Yorkshire Police, there were 27 Karens placed in custody for causing a range of offences from August 2023 to July 2024. They have been categorised under public fear, alarm and distress and causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress. Figures for public disorder calls, common assault, abusive or insulting behaviour in public have been published by West Yorkshire Police. The public information has been published on the force's website.In total, there were 17 suspects with the name Karen after being arrested on suspicion of causing public fear, alarm or distress and 10 suspects in the sub section of causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress.
Published under the request, it says 'our response'. It says: "The table above represents the number of crimes recorded during the period, which were not subsequently cancelled, were classified as one of the following offences: "9A Public fear, alarm or distress , 62A Violent disorder, 66 Other offences against the State or public order and had one or more suspects with a first name of Karen."
